The Shadows are not exclusively doppelgangers originating from Haine; they are also created by Shide and involve a more complex origin process that includes soul harvesting via a 'Rendering in reverse' mechanism. The conflict forces Shinpei to confront the reality that saving everyone might require sacrificing his own memories or relationships, as each reset erases the progress made in previous attempts.
